U's Granquist named Big Ten Player of the Week
Minnesota Sports-- University of Minnesota volleyball player Jessica Granquist of Blaine has been named the Big Ten Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.
CHICAGO -- University of Minnesota volleyball player Jessica Granquist of Blaine has been named the Big Ten Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.
She helped the Gophers spring back-to-back upsets of No. 4 Texas over the weekend. Granquist wins the honor for the fourth time in her career. She recorded nine assists in the two matches, while committing only two reception errors in 48 chances.
The University of Minnesota volleyball team has shot up the rankings in this week's coaches association national poll. The Golden Gophers are ranked No. 6 in this week's survey, up five spots. Minnesota beat then-No. 4 Texas twice over the weekend. The Gophers are slated to play a pair of games this weekend at the University of Northern Iowa invitational in Cedar Falls, Iowa. California is the No. 1 team in the nation.
