Ellsworth netters get first match win in dual meet

The Ellsworth High School girls' tennis team, notched its first match win of the season Thursday, although the team lost 6-1 at Amery in Middle Border Conference action.

The No. 2 doubles team of Alea Wilbur and Katie Kurrelmeyer defeated the Warriors' Hannah Nelson, Shawna Henke 6-4 7-5.

The Panthers' Jordan Olson nearly made it two wins for the Purple but lost in two close sets to Laura Satterlund 4-6 6-7 (4-7).

New Richmond knocked off the Ellsworth girls tennis team 7-0 on Tuesday in New Richmond.

New Richmond won each match in straight sets. Kurrelmeyer and Wilbur lost 2-6, 2-6 at No. 2 doubles and Megan Stress lost 2-6, 1-6 to Christian Waver at No. 4 singles.

Ellsworth plays in the Baldwin-Woodville Invitational Saturday.
