BALDWIN - Ellsworth's coaching staff was looking to get junior wide receiver Alex Campbell more opportunities in the Panther football team's offense and finally found a way.
Campbell had a career night by all accounts in the Panthers 28-22 victory over Baldwin-Woodville Friday in Ellsworth.
Campbell, who recently moved to the running back position, accounted for all of the Panthers’ scoring and scored a touchdown in just about every way.
Campbell ran for 192 yards, had two rushing touchdowns, a receiving touchdown and an interception return for a touchdown.
“That’s a career night if you ask me,” Ellsworth head coach Clair Austin said.
Campbell had touchdown runs of 38 and 64 yards, a 16-yard touchdown reception and a 90-yard interception return for a touchdown to cap it off.
Ellsworth (3-2, 2-1 Middle Border) grabbed the lead in the second quarter and hung on despite a comeback effort from Baldwin-Woodville. Baldwin-Woodville scored with 1 minute, 30 seconds left to make it a one-score game but failed to recover an onside kick.
Ellsworth is art New Richmond next Friday.
