An idea that began as the “Fermenting Fun and Food Fest,” spotlighting such possibilities as culture makers, starters, root beer, yogurt, sauerkraut, pickles and salsas, evolved into the “Under the Harvest Moon” celebration, held Tuesday at East End Park in Ellsworth which nearly 150 people attended. The local chamber of commerce ambassadors invited the public to “savor the flavor of fall” by sampling a harvest from local purveyors such as Maiden Rock Cidery, Sailer's Meats, Norwex, Vino in the Valley, Scentsy, Flat Pennies, The Bake Shop and Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery. Ambassadors said they were pleased with the turnout and plan on making it an annual event.
