ST. PAUL -- Minnesota forward Brad Staubitz has been suspended for six games by the National Hockey League. Staubitz will miss the final three Wild preseason games, as well as the first three games of the regular season, and will forfeit over nine-thousand-dollars in salary which goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

The penalty was levied after Staubitz received a game misconduct and major penalty for checking Blue Jackets forward Cody Bass from behind early in the third period of last Friday's preseason game against Columbus. The 27-year-old Edmonton native will not be eligible to return until the Wild face Edmonton on October 13th.
