CANNON FALLS - Ellsworth High School's girls tennis team competed in a Saturday tournament at Cannon Falls.
Each player and doubles team played three matches and points were based off wins. Megan Stress and doubles teams of Bethany and Jordan Olson and Rochelle Sweig and Kali Schaar all had wins. All of Ellsworth's wins came against Albert Lea, Minn.
"The teams were very tough. Every girl put up very tough fights," EHS head coach Dylan Greske said. "It was good to go against a high level of play before entering the post season."
Sweig and Schaar came back from a set down and won the second set to send it into a third set tie break which they ended up winning. Stress competed won her match 6-0 6-4 and Jordan and Bethany Olson won their last match against Albert Lea.
Ellsworth will compete in the Middle Border Conference meet this week. The tournament was moved to Wednesday after it was rained out today. The Panthers also have a make-up dual meet to play vs. Bloomer this week as well. Next Monday is the WIAA Division 2 Osceola Subsectional.
