JANESVILLE - A state girls’ high school cross country record was broken during the weekend. Molly Seidel, a senior at University Lake School in Hartland, set a new mark in the four-thousand meter girls’ event.
At a meet in Janesville, Seidel ran the course in 13:19.99 seconds. That broke her own mark of 13:34.27, which she set three weeks ago at the Hartland Invitational. Seidel won the Janesville event last year in 13:55.5 – and she was hoping to beat that time.
As it turned out, Seidel shattered her old mark by over 35 seconds. And she finished 30 seconds ahead of second-place Olivia Pratt of Madison West.
