MINNESOTA -- The Minnesota Timberwolves will officially introduce new head coach Rich Adelman this afternoon at a news conference. Adelman was hired earlier this month to take over the coaching duties of the struggling NBA franchise.
The 65-year-old left the Houston Rockets in April and has also coached the Trail Blazers, Kings and Warriors in his 20-year career. Adelman has just two losing years in 18 full seasons on the bench. Coincidentally, Timberwolves star forward Kevin Love played on the same high school team as Adelman's son.

Labor talks between the NBA players union and owners will resume today. Both sides met for less than two hours yesterday with little to show for their efforts. The start of the new basketball season is hanging in the balance. The league has already postponed the start of training camps and cancelled the first week of pre-season games. Time is at a premium this week as Jewish members on both sides begin observing the holiday Rosh Hashanah at sundown today. However, Deputy NBA Commissioner Adam Silver says ownership is prepared to return to the bargaining table on Friday if warranted. Key issues in the dispute are a salary cap and a revenue split.
