Ellsworth team, Prescott's Tayson qualify for golf sectionals

Ellsworth High School's girls' golf team and Prescott's Heidi Tayson will play in next week's WIAA Division 2 Baldwin-Woodville Sectional meet as they qualified at Wednesday's regional meeet held at the Amery Golf Course.

AMERY - Ellsworth High School's girls' golf team and Prescott's Heidi Tayson will play in next week's WIAA Division 2 Baldwin-Woodville Sectional meet as they qualified at Wednesday's regional meeet held at the Amery Golf Course.

Ellsworth finished fourth out of nine schools. The top four teams and top four individuals qualify for sectionals. Tayson finished 10th individually but her 101 score put her into the sectional meet. Her teammate Katie Filkins just missed qualifying as she lost out in a tiebreaker with Amery's Anna Waterman.

Ellsworth's Aubrey Langer shot a 98 to finish ninth and teammate Jilliane Paquet's 16th place 104 score followed by Chloe Spriggle's 110 put the Panthers into the sectional meet for the second straight season.

Osceola's Casey Danielson was the regional champion, shooting a 70 and her Osceola squad also won the team title.

The sectional meet is on Tuesday at Pheasant Hills Golf Course outside Hammond. Play begins at 9 a.m.
