Wisconsin hosts Nebraska in the Cornhuskers' first game as a Big Ten member
Wisconsin Sports-- The University of Wisconsin football team is getting ready for an historic night tomorrow, as it hosts Nebraska in the Cornhuskers’ first conference game as a new member of the Big Ten.
MADISON - The Wisconsin football team is getting ready for an historic night tomorrow, as it hosts Nebraska in the Cornhuskers’ first conference game as a new member of the Big Ten.
Both teams are 4-0 and it is the first match-up of Top 10 teams in Camp Randall since No. 3 Wisconsin played No. 5 Minnesota back in 1962.
The Badgers will try to avoid what happened a year ago, when they breezed through their non-conference schedule and then lost by 10 in their league opener at Michigan State. Junior running back Montee Ball took that loss hard, because he hardly contributed. He only had two carries for six yards, and was about to drop to Number-three on the depth chart behind John Clay and freshman James White. This year, Ball has established himself as Wisconsin’s top rusher. He has scored at least once in each of the Badgers’ last 10 games, and he leads Wisconsin in scoring this season with nine rushing touchdowns and one through the air.
Offensive coordinator Paul Chryst said Ball took all of his lessons from last year, and applied them to how he prepares – and the physical aspect is only a part of it. Ball also took a much stronger attitude into this season, after losing 25 pounds last winter. He’s faster than he was a year ago – and he appears to be just as strong.
