MILWAUKEE - Yovani Gallardo allowed just four hits in eight innings, retiring 14 out of 15 at one point, and leading Milwaukee to a 4-1 first-game victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks in one of the two National League Division Series playoffs.
Prince Fielder knocked Arizona ace Ian Kennedy out of the game with a two-run home run in the seventh inning. Gallardo only gave up Ryan Roberts eighth inning homer. He struck out nine Diamondback batters.
Ryan Braun was 3-for-4 and threw out a runner at the plate.
