MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers are one victory away from advancing to the National League Championship Series. The Brewers scored five runs in the sixth inning yesterday to beat Arizona 9-4, giving the Crew a two-games-to-none lead in their best-of-five Division Series.

Milwaukee broke a 4-4 tie as they sent 10 men to the plate in the sixth. Jonathan Lucroy drove in the game-winner on a suicide squeeze bunt with one out. Jerry Hairston Junior scored from third as pitcher Brad Ziegler’s throw to the plate got past Diamondbacks’ catcher Miguel Montero. Corey Hart, Nyjer Morgan, and Ryan Braun then hit three straight singles which scored Milwaukee’s other four runs in that frame. Zack Greinke gave up all of Arizona’s runs on homers by Paul Goldschmidt, Chris Young, and Justin Upton. Greinke went five innings and struck out seven in his second straight start with three days’ rest. Takashi Saito pitched the sixth to get the win. Diamondbacks’ starter Daniel Hudson went five-and-a-third innings and took the loss. Young and Braun both fell a triple short of the cycle for their respective teams. Braun’s homer came in the first inning, giving Milwaukee a 2-nothing lead – and he drove in three runs for the game. The Diamondbacks went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

The Brewers are the only one of the eight Major League playoff teams to be up 2-nothing in their Division Series. The other three series are all tied at a game apiece. Game-Three of the Brewer-Diamondback series is tomorrow night at 8:37 in Phoenix. A Milwaukee victory would send the Crew to its first League Championship Series since 1982, when they were in the American League. Shaun Marcum will start tomorrow night against Arizona rookie Josh Collmenter.
