PRESCOTT - Prescott High School announced the hiring of two new basketball coaches. The coaches were announced and their hiring approved by the school board at last week's meeting.
Nick Johnson has been named the new head boys' basketball coach while Luke Kjelland is the new girls' head coach.
Johnson takes over for Cory Morning. The Cardinals finished with a 12-10 re cord, 9-5 in the Middle Border Conference and return All-MBC point guard Billy Brookshaw for the upcoming season. The girls team finished second in the league at 9-5 and were 16-8 overall under former head coach John Ott. Kjelland has been an assistant in the program for several seasons. However the girls team will lose several talented players from that squad like All-MBC players Alyssa Krings and Megan Murphy.
"My goal is to coach a team where our opponents are going to know they played one of the hardest working and most competitive teams they will face in a season." Kjelland said.
Practice for the basketball season begins the week of Nov. 14.
