MADISON - Three games into the season, the Wisconsin women’s hockey team already has three hat tricks to its credit. Senior Carolyne Prevost is the latest, scoring three times in a 5-2 win over North Dakota Saturday.
Wisconsin has gone 30 games in a row without a loss dating back to November of last year. Saturday’s win over the Fighting Sioux was the WCHA opener for both sides. Though the visitors did tie the score in the second period, it was all Wisconsin after that. The Badgers built a 5-1 lead before North Dakota scored the last goal of the game. Both teams fired a lot of shots, with the Badgers holding a slim 38-36 lead, but Wisconsin found the back of the net more often. Brianna Decker and Hilary Knight had the other goals. Brooke Ammerman had three assists, while Decker and Stefanie McKeough had two apiece. The two teams wrap up the weekend series this afternoon at 2 p.m. Wisconsin will bring a 3-0 record into the game, 1-0 in conference play.
