ATLANTA - The Green Bay Packers dug out of a 14-0 hole last night to win at Atlanta, 25-14.

The Packers lost veteran left tackle Chad Clifton in the first half to a hamstring injury. But that didn’t stop Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay offense from catching fire in the second half. Rodgers threw his 100th career touchdown pass, a 70-yarder to James Jones late in the third quarter to give the Packers the lead for good. Then in the fourth quarter, Rodgers threw his second TD strike, a 29-yarder to Greg Jennings. Rodgers completed 26-of-39 passes for 396 yards as he hit 12 different receivers.

Mason Crosby booted four field goals, including a 56-yarder that tied his own team record. The Packer defense made a big adjustment in the second quarter. Corner Tramon Williams, nursing a previous shoulder injury, went back to his old bump-and-run coverage on his receiver while the Packer linebackers were free to stop the run. And that held Atlanta to 251 total yards – about 100 yards fewer than what Green Bay had given up in its first four contests. Matt Ryan threw for 167 yards, a touchdown to Roddy White, and two interceptions. Michael Turner had 56 yards and a score for Atlanta. Jones was the Packers’ leading receiver with seven catches for 140 yards and his TD. James Starks was the Pack’s leading rusher with 12 carries for 40 yards.

The Packers are now 5-0 for the first time since 1965, when they opened 6-0 on their way to an NFL championship. They’ve won six straight road games, including last year’s playoffs. And the Packers have an 11-game winning streak dating back to last season – their longest since a 12-game string in 1961-and-’62. Green Bay will host 0-4 Saint Louis next Sunday. The Rams had their bye yesterday.
