Special practice events to begin Golden Gopher hoops season
Minnesota Sports-- This weekend is a big one for both the men's and women's basketball teams at the University of Minnesota. The Golden Gopher men's team begins practice on Friday with a free public scrimmage and "Midnight Madness"-style festivities.
MINNEAPOLIS -- This weekend is a big one for both the men's and women's basketball teams at the University of Minnesota. The Golden Gopher men's team begins practice on Friday with a free public scrimmage and "Midnight Madness"-style festivities.
The "Gopher All-Star Friday Night" event will feature an autograph session with players and coaches at 7 p.m., followed by a team scrimmage, a slam dunk contest, a three-point shootout, and a skills competition. Doors open at Williams Arena on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Then, on Sunday, the women's team has Gopher "HOOPLA" where head coach Pam Borton will unveil her team. The women's event is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. at Williams Arena and will feature an autograph session and a team scrimmage.
