No. 4 Central tops No. 8 Spring Valley 20-7, wins D-SC outright

St. Croix Central's Jacobson toted up 212 yards of total offense in lead the No. 4 ranked Panthers to a 20-7 win over No. 8 ranked Spring Valley Thursday.

HAMMOND - St. Croix Central's Jacobson toted up 212 yards of total offense in lead the No. 4 ranked Panthers to a 20-7 win over No. 8 ranked Spring Valley Thursday.

The win secures a undisputed Dunn-St. Croix Conference prep football title and undefeated regular season for SCC and probably a top seed in its playoff bracket when the pairings are announced Saturday.

The speedy Jacobson scored on several big plays for Central. His first touchdown came on a 64-yard run after recovering a fumble in the SCC backfield. In the same first half half Jacobson scored on a 54-yard screen pass from quarterback Carl Moll.

The Panthers led 14-0 at halftime but Spring Valley scored the first touchdown of the second half on a seven-yard run by Kyle Bosshart.

But St. Croix immediately responded on its next possession. They returned the kick-off to mid-field and capped a short drive with a 21-yard TD run by Jacobson, who finished with 115 yards rushing and 97 yards on two receptions.

SV had several chances to climb back in the game and had the balls several times in Panther territory but were unable to score again.

The Cardinals only had 71 yards on 5-of-22 passing compared to Central's 159 as Moll completed 13-of-22 passes.

Spring Valley wraps up the regular season 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the D-SC, still its best mark in eight years. They too, will await its playoff fate this weekend.
