ST. LOUIS - The Milwaukee Brewers have tied the National League Championship Series at two games apiece, after winning at Saint Louis 4-2 last night. The Brewers ended an eight-game road losing streak in the playoffs. And they guaranteed themselves at least one more home contest, which would be Game-Six against the Cardinals on Sunday at Miller Park.

Randy Wolf picked up his first post-season victory in three tries last night. He went seven innings, giving up two runs on six hits with a walk and six strikeouts. Matt Holliday and Allen Craig hit solo homers to put the Cardinals up 2-nothing. But those would be the only Saint Louis runs of the night, as the Cards went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position. The Brewers tied the game in the fourth on a run-scoring double by Jerry Hairston Junior and an RBI-single by Yuniesky Betancourt. A single by Ryan Braun in the fifth put Milwaukee in front for good. George Kottaras drove in the Brewers’ final run in the sixth on a grounder to second. John Axford pitched the ninth for a save. Kyle Lohse took the loss, giving up three runs in four-and-a-third innings.

Braun says the Brewers feel confident going into tonight’s Game-Five, knowing they can win the series at home. Zack Greinke will start for the Brew Crew this evening against the Cardinals’ Jaime Garcia.

The Detroit Tigers stayed alive in the American League title series with a 7-5 home victory over Texas yesterday. Former Brewers’ prospect Nelson Cruz set a new LCS record with his fifth homer of the series for the Rangers. It came in the eighth inning on a 100-mile-an-hour fastball from Tigers’ starter Justin Verlander – his 133th and final pitch of the game. Cruz, whom the Brewers traded to Texas in 2006, became the fifth player to hit five homers in a post-season series. Reggie Jackson, Chase Utley, Ken Griffey Junior, and Juan Gonzalez are the others. Jackson and Utley each hit five homers in the World Series. The others did it in a division series.
