AMERY - Ellsworth had the team and Prescott the individual champions at Thursday's Middle Border Conference meet.
For the second season in a row the Ellsworth High School boys' cross country team won first place in the MBC meet. The Panthers edged out Prescott by a margin of 30 to 66. EHS put all five of their scoring runners on the All-MBC teams, four on the first team alone led by Matt Priest's second place in 17:41, Ike Taplin in third, Jaylen Pavloski in fifth, Sam Mahaffey with a season-high seventh place finish and Tyler Marson 13th.
But it was Prescott's Cole Hauenstein winning the boys individual conference title with a first place time of 17:22. Teammates Matt Pechacek and Nick Helberg also made all-MBC finishing sixth and 12th.
Victoria Simones completed the PHS sweep of the MBC individual races as she won her second conference title in a row in a time of 16:13, her fastest this season.
The Ellsworth girls team just missed making the top four as hoped as they finished fifth by a mere two points behind Amery. EHS's Cassie Lofgren and Kennedy Kowalchyk both made All-MBC by placing fourth and ninth respectively. Prescott's girls placed seventh. New Richmond won the MBC girls' team title.
