MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Bucks’ player representative is optimistic that federal mediator George Cohen will help push the players-and-owners toward a new collective bargaining agreement.
Forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute says a lot of things need to be worked out – and his union has already made a lot of concessions to the owners by reducing their share of basketball revenues. They’re pushing for a 53-percent share – down from the current 57 – while the owners want them to go as low as 47-percent.
Cohen helped the NFL owners-and-players work out a new bargaining deal. And if he cannot do the same for the NBA, Commissioner David Stern says games will be canceled at least through Christmas – and perhaps for the entire season. The first two weeks of the regular season are already lost. But Mbah a Moute says he’s optimistic that a settlement can be reached – and he can see himself back on the floor by the end of November.
