BLOOMER - Ellsworth lost its first round, WIAA Division 2 regional contest at Bloomer Tuesday. But perhaps that was less important than the health of several players who were injured in the match.

The sixth-seeded Panthers lost two players to concussions and a third to a broke wrist in a season-ending loss. Kenzie Diercks broke her wrist in Game 2 and then Chelsy Strom and Olivia Helmer knocked their heads together on a play as they both suffered concussions.

Strom finished with a team-high 22 digs and Helmer led the team with 15 assists

The Blackhawks won all three games by scores of 25-13, 25-20, 25-19

Ellsworth senior Abbey Ristow led the team with 19 kills. Senior Kristina Saunders added 21 digs and senior Jessy Tingelhoff had 13 assists.

EHS concludes its season with a 16-13 overall record.
