MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men’s basketball team is picked to finish sixth in the Big East Conference this year. That’s according to the coaches’ pre-season poll released yesterday.
Marquette senior guard Darius Johnson-Odom made the pre-season all-conference first team. He averaged 16 points a game last season, with just under two three-pointers. Johnson-Odom was a major factor in the Golden Eagles’ success last season. They went 22-15 and made the NCAA Sweet-16.
Also, Marquette senior forward Jae Crowder was given an all-conference honorable mention. Ashton Gibbs of Pittsburgh is the pre-season player-of-the-year.
Connecticut and Syracuse were picked as co-champions of the Big East for the regular season. Louisville is expected to take third.
