All matches begin at 7 p.m.
In Division 3 Spring Valley, the No. 3 seeded team in the regional, is at No. 2 Prescott in what should be an exciting match-up of two evenly matched teams. Both squads contested a few weeks ago in the championship of the Amery Invitational with Prescott beating Spring Valley 2-0, rallying from behind in both games to win.
The Cardinals of the Eau Galle and the St. Croix were both 3-0 winners in their respective first round matches. SV topped Unity and Prescott got past another former D-SC compadre, Boyceville.
"We're two teams with big hitters looking for balance on offense," PHS head coach Patti Tulip said. "For us to win we'll need that plus our backrow defense has to be very good and we'll need a lot of digs."
The winner will more than likely play No. 1 seed and No. 1 ranked Grantsburg in Grantsburg Saturday evening. The Pirates, 28-1 overall, host No. 4 seed St. Croix Falls tonight in Grantsburg.
Plum City and Alma are not recent former league members by they do square off against each other every season in non-conference action. This fall the No. 2 seeded Blue Devils topped the No. 6 Rivermen 3-0. But that was a long-time ago in the context of the season compared to now. Alma is coming off a thrilling five-game upset of their other rivals, Pepin, Tuesday while PC struggled to get past No. 7 seed Gilmanton, who finished well below Alma in the Dairyland Conference standings. The Rivermen were 5-4 in the league and come into Thursday's match-up at 12-12 overall.
The other-half of the Division 4 bracket pits No. 1 seeded and Dairyland champion Cochrane-Fountain City against No. 4 Eleva-Strum at C-FC. The top seed hosts the finals Saturday evening starting at 7 p.m.
