UPDATE: Truck catches fire in parking lot in Ellsworth

The front end of a 4x4 pickup truck caught fire Tuesday morning in the parking lot of the Pierce County Highway Department in Ellsworth.

The call was received by the Ellsworth Fire Department at 8:52 a.m. of a vehicle on fire at the highway department. The 2002 Ford F150, owned by Jesse W. Hass of Arkansaw, was extensively damaged.

EFD crews, along with the Ellsworth Ambulance Service and Pierce County sheriff's officials, arrived at the location, west of Industrial Road on the village’s northwest side.

The truck was located near some sand hills behind the county recycling center. Firemen quickly put out the fire. They were on the scene until 9:13 a.m.

The fire was under investigation last week.
