Minnesota hockey news: Gophs still hold at No. 8 in poll
Minnesota Sports-- The University of Minnesota men's hockey team remains ranked No. 8 in this week's USCHO national poll.
MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota men's hockey team remains ranked No. 8 in this week's USCHO national poll.
The Gophers split a pair of games with Vermont over the weekend and sport a 5-1 record. Minnesota-Duluth is 2-3-1 and ranked 15th in the nation.
Boston College is the top-ranked team in this week's survey. Several WCHA schools are in the rankings, including Denver at No. 2, Colorado College at third, and North Dakota at No. 12.

Bemidji State goaltender Andrew Walsh is the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Beavers to a two-game sweep of Michigan Tech last weekend. Walsh is from Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Denver junior Drew Shore of Denver is the league's Offensive Player of the Week, while Wisconsin netminder Joel Rumpel is the conference's Freshman of the Week.

The University of Minnesota women's hockey team stayed at No. 2 in this week's national USCHO poll. Minnesota is 7-1 and ranks only behind top team Wisconsin. Minnesota-Duluth is seventh in the country.

The Minnesota Wild have a morning skate today at the Xcel Energy Center getting ready for tomorrow's game against Anaheim. Minnesota is coming off of a loss at Vancouver on Saturday. Tomorrow's game starts at 7 p.m.
