Saturday State Sports Briefs: Badgers hope to catch rebound vs. Buckeyes

Wisconsin Sports

COLUMBUS - Falling from the ranks of the unbeaten and out of the top-10, the Wisconsin Badgers have no time to recover their sense of well-being. Now in second place in the Big Ten Conference, No. 11 Wisconsin travels to Ohio State for a night game.

Badger Head Coach Bret Bielema says he expects his team to bounce back and play well. Despite two costly interceptions, Badger quarterback Russell Wilson is still the second-ranked quarterback in the FBS. And, the Badgers still have that powerful rushing attack led by Montee Ball.

They take on a Buckeye team that has had two weeks to get ready after a bye. A win over Wisconsin would put the 4-3 Ohio State team right back in the middle of the division race, despite a slow start to the season. It's also Homecoming this weekend on the Ohio State campus.

Trailing early, the St. Louis Cardinals completed their comeback season by winning the 2011 World Series behind a 6-2 victory Friday night. The Redbirds had trailed by 10 and a half games in late August. By winning the last two at home, they won their 11th series in team history. A power-hitting star in the post-season, former Brewer farmhand Nelson Cruz was 0-for-4 in the deciding game. Former Brewer pitcher Mike Adams pitched in the seventh and allowed the final Cardinal run.
