Pierce County trio competes at state harrier meet
Prescott's Cole Hauenstein and Victoria Simones and Ellsworth's Ike Taplin ran Saturday afternoon in the WIAA State Cross Country Meet at The Ridges Golf Course.
WISCONSIN RAPIDS - Prescott's Cole Hauenstein and Victoria Simones and Ellsworth's Ike Taplin ran Saturday afternoon in the WIAA State Cross Country Meet at The Ridges Golf Course.
The races were backed up by a half-hour due to frost on the course as temperatures dipped below 30 degrees early Saturday morning.
Simones finished 34th in her Division 2 girls race. Her time was a season-best 15:40 with a first mile split of 5:54 and second mile split of 6:33. Dodgeville/Mineral Point's Molly Hanson won the race in 14:27.
Hauenstein's first race at state was a good one as he finished 22nd running a 16:43.40 while Taplin took 52nd in 17:14. The break down for both runners was 5:06 and 5:35 for Hauenstein while for Taplin it was 5:13 and 5:47.
Winning the boys' Division 2 race was Ryan McCoy of New Glarus/Monticello in 15:38.
