GREEN BAY - The Green Bay Packers looked to their practice squad today to replace injured running back Alex Green. The team promoted undrafted rookie Brandon Saine from Ohio State to take Green’s roster spot.
Saine had 51 rushing yards and six catches for 36 yards during the exhibition season. He was put on the Green Bay practice squad at the end of training camp. Green put was on injured reserve. He’s out for the remainder of his rookie year, after hurting a knee at Minnesota eight days ago.
Also today, the Packers signed center-and-guard Paul Fenaroli and safety Anthony Levine to their practice squad – and they cut offensive lineman Cecil Newton from that same unit. Fenaroli is a non-drafted rookie who spent time at Atlanta before being cut at the end of the Falcons’ training camp. Levine was on Green Bay’s practice squad a year ago, but was cut after this summer’s camp.
