PLUM CITY—Jokes and folks mix well with the food and drinks available at Molly’s on Main in Plum City.

That’s what the restaurant’s owner, Molly Karshbaum, has found. Karshbaum was already building a wide following for the quality fare on her menu when she started adding an occasional side dish of comedy. Now, the establishment is hosting comedians two-to-three times a year, usually in the fall, though sometimes in the spring, too.

“We try to have dinner with the show so (audiences) can sample our food,” she said Thursday.

The list of entertainers who’ve been on stage at the former nursing home converted into an eatery includes some well-known names. At the top is Louie Anderson, a Twin Cities-based funnyman with credits ranging from hosting the nationally syndicated “Family Feud” TV game show to being animated as the lead character in a national TV cartoon series.
