Over a hundred school districts -- about a third of those in Minnesota -- are asking voters today for money either for buildings, or operating expenses, or both.

Twenty Minnesota school districts have bond referendums. A number of them are for technology leases and some are for facilities upgrades and new buildings. The largest is in Thief River Falls at $54-million dollars, followed in Greater Minnesota by Owatonna at $24-million and Glencoe-Silver Lake at 18.

At least 113 Minnesota school districts are asking property taxpayers for money to cover their operating expenses. Some of those are renewals of existing levies. Of those that want new money, Stephen-Argyle in northwestern Minnesota leads the list at a thousand dollars per pupil, followed by Battle Lake at $975 and Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton at $914.
