Minnesota Sports-- The NCAA Division II national volleyball coaches poll shows Minnesota-Duluth as the second-ranked team in the country.

Concordia-St. Paul one spot back at No. 3. Southwest Minnesota State is ninth in the survey, while Minnesota State-Mankato is 20th.
The University of Minnesota volleyball team dropped one spot to No. 16 in this week's national Division I poll. Minnesota lost to Penn State on Friday, then beat Ohio State on Saturday. The Gophers will host Michigan State tomorrow night at the U of M Sports Pavilion.

University of Minnesota outside hitter Ashley Wittman of Shakopee has been named the Big Ten Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week award. Wittman earned the award for her big weekend against the Nittany Lions and Buckeyes, averaging almost six kills per game. Wittman won this same award in September.

The NSIC and MIAC are out with their volleyball Players of the Week. Augustana junior Jordan Spatenka of Owatonna is the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week. Her Vikings teammate Dani Haley, also from Owatonna has been named the NSIC Setter of the Week. Minnesota State-Moorhead junior Katy Ness of Ada is the Defensive Player of the Week. This is the fifth time this season that Ness has won the weekly citation. Concordia-Moorhead hitter Jenna Green is the MIAC Offensive Player of the Week. And, her Cobber teammate AMy Sykora of Rapid City, South Dakota is the MIAC Setter of the Week.
