St. Mary's Springs takes Division 6 title
Fond du Lac St. Mary's Springs capped off a perfect season Thursday by winning the Division-Six state high school football championship. Springs blanked Shiocton 24-0 at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.
MADISON - Fond du Lac St. Mary's Springs capped off a perfect season Thursday by winning the Division-Six state high school football championship. Springs blanked Shiocton 24-0 at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.
Springs led 10-0 at the half, and then pulled away with a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Darin Ward had a 66-yard touchdown scamper. Evan Henderson and Tyler Grebe both scored from a yard-out in the final quarter. Springs ended its season at 14-0, and atoned for a second-place finish a year ago when it lost to Edgar.
Shiocton goes home with a 12-2 mark after losing in its first state tournament appearance since 1983.
