CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Montee Ball rushed for 224 yards on 38 carries and scored three times, becoming just the fifth running back in Division I football history to scored 30 touchdowns. The senior back led the University of Wisconsin to a come-from-behind, 28-17 victory over Illinois Saturday.

Wisconsin trailed at halftime 17-7, but Illinois kept turning the ball over, four times, helping the Badgers come up with the dominant second half they needed to stay in the hunt for the Big Ten Championship game. A win next week against Penn State will set up a rematch with Michigan State. Illinois has lost five straight after a 6-0 start.

The three interceptions and a fumble led to Badger touchdowns on drives of 44, 39, 30 and two yards. Illinois had a 14-0 lead before Wisconsin started to move the ball. Quarterback Russell Wilson scored the go-ahead touchdown as the third quarter ended. Wisconsin didn’t do much passing in the face of wind gusts up to 30 mph and Wilson’s only TD pass went to Ball.

The Badgers are now set to play Penn State next Saturday for a berth in the first-ever Big Ten championship game. The Nittany Lions beat Ohio State 20-14 to clinch at least a share of the Leaders Division title. PSU is 6-1 while UW is 5-2. Kick-off is at 2:30 p.m. and the game will be televised on ABC.
