CHAPEL HILL N.C. - The University of Wisconsin men's basketball team is anxious to see how it measures up against fifth-ranked North Carolina.
The Tar Heels will host the ninth-ranked Badgers tonight as part of the Big Ten-ACC Challenge with the tip-off at 8:30 p.m. and game broadcast on ESPN.
The match-up will feature two of the nation's top point guards -- Wisconsin senior Jordan Taylor and North Carolina sophomore Kendall Marshall. Badgers' coach Bo Ryan calls that quote, "a challenge within the Challenge." But associate head coach Greg Gard says it will be more about Taylor helping his teammates than focusing solely on Marshall. Taylor has taken fewer shots so far this season -- fewer than 10 per game -- and he's averaging 11 points, down from last year's figure of 18. Gard says Taylor has always shown maturity, and he just continues to grow.
Wisconsin is 6-0. The Tar Heels are 5-1 after losing by 10 last weekend to Nevada-Las Vegas. North Carolina might be without its star forward Harrison Barnes, who's averaging 17 points a game. He hurt an ankle in the loss to Las Vegas. But Marshall told reporters yesterday that Barnes would be fine for the Badger game.
