U spikers beat Washington, move on to regional; Concordia wins D-II title
Minnesota Sports-- The University of Minnnesota volleyball rallied from a 0-2 deficit to beat Washington 3-2 and advance to regionals of the NCAA Division I National Tournament.
MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnnesota volleyball rallied from a 0-2 deficit to beat Washington 3-2 and advance to regionals of the NCAA Division I National Tournament.
The U won the second round match 18-25, 20-25, 25-17, 25-21, 15-11 Saturday at the Sports Pavilion. They beat North Dakota State the night before by a 3-0 score.
Junior Katherine Harris led Minnesota in kills and digs with 29 and 24 respectively. Teammate Hailey Cowles had 11 kills and 29 digs.
Minnesota will host the regional as well this weekend. Their next match is Friday at 7 p.m. against Iowa State at the Sports Pavilion. Also in the regional is Purdue and Florida State. These two teams will square off a 5 p.m. the same night. The regional championship is set for Saturday at 7 p.m.
In other NCAA tournament action, in Division II, Concordia-St. Paul won another NCAA title as they swept aside Cal-State San Bernadino 3-0 in the national championship at San Bernadino.
