BOYCEVILLE - The Ellsworth boys basketball team locked down Boyceville Thursday for a 34-21 non-conference victory.
The Panthers led wire-to-wire and got nine points apiece from Travis Kroll, in his first game of the season, and Alex Campbell. Adam Kearns added seven points.
Ellsworth (1-1) displayed patience on offense as it tried to find the best shot it could during its possessions. It paid off as it shot 50 percent from the field on 14 of 28 shooting.
The Panthers’ half-court game proved effective as they had just five turnovers for the game.
“I think, first of all, defensively we kept ourselves in good positioning,” Ellsworth head coach Cory Brathol said. “They had a tough time getting shots off. Offensively, I thought we did a great job of really working the ball around.”
The Panthers face New Richmond Tuesday in New Richmond.
