Twins get Turpen in exchange for Slowey

-- The Minnesota Twins completed their trade with the Colorado Rockies from earlier this week when they announced yesterday they would be receiving right-handed pitcher Daniel Turpen in exchange for Kevin Slowey.

DALLAS - The Minnesota Twins completed their trade with the Colorado Rockies from earlier this week when they announced yesterday they would be receiving right-handed pitcher Daniel Turpen in exchange for Kevin Slowey.

Turpen was the player to be named later. Turpen pitched in Class AA last season, going 2-4 with a 4.83 ERA, making 47 relief appearances. He struck out 33 and walked 35 in 59-innings pitched.

Minnesota also selected minor leaguer Terry Doyle from the White Sox in the Rule Five Draft. Doyle was 1-5 with a 2.84 ERA last year pitching for Chicago's Class A team in North Carolina, and then went 7-5 with a 3.24 ERA with the White Sox Class AA team in Alabama. The Twins also selected Marty Popham from the Indians organization and lost pitcher Shooter Hunt to the Cardinals in the Rule Five Draft.
