Jennifer Lynn Bernier, age 22, of Hager City, Wis., died Saturday, Dec. 10, at Fairview University Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn.

Jennifer Lynn Bernier, age 22, of Hager City, Wis., died Saturday, Dec. 10, at Fairview University Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn.

Jenny was born Nov. 9, 1989, in St. Paul, Minn., to Paula Gramling, James Bernier, and her sister, Bridgette. She was a graduate of Ellsworth High School, class of 2008. Jenny was currently studying nursing at Chippewa Valley Technical College in River Falls, Wis.

Jenny was a courageous, vibrant and beautiful young woman. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, making jewelry, and going to her family’s cabin. Jenny was a cherished daughter, a loving sister, and a wonderful aunt. In the last year of her life, Jenny battled heart failure related to chemotherapy received during the treatment of childhood cancer. Jenny was so strong and had fought for so long, but in the end, her body could not endure anymore. On Dec. 10, 2011, as Jenny was surrounded by the love of her family, God and the angels took her to heaven. Her smile and enthusiasm for life will always be remembered as we carry her in our hearts.

Jennifer is survived by her parents: Paula Gramling and her husband, Rick Bloomfield, Hager City; James Bernier, White Bear Lake, Minn.; sisters: Bridgette Bernier, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Nikki Bloomfield, Minneapolis; Kari Bloomfield, Ellsworth, Wis.; adopted brother, Kurt Malean; special friend Jared Christiansen, Prescott, Wis.; maternal grandparents, Joe and Carol Gramling, West St. Paul; niece, Eliana, and nephew, Brandon. Jennifer is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Thomas and Pearl Bernier.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Big River, Wis. (rural River Falls.) Rev. Thomas Donaldson will officiate. Burial will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hill Funeral Home, Ellsworth, and for 1 hour prior to the Mass at the church on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be: Jared Christiansen, Nick Prather, Kurt Malean, Jeremy Bleichner, Joe Aden, Vince Gramling, Steve Gramling, Tom Bernier, Dennis Bernier, George McCann.

Memorials given in Jennifer’s name will be divided between her favorite charities.
