ELMWOOD--Elves were busy for the third year at Elmwood Public Library hosting “Christmas at the Library.”

Area children and their families were treated to hot apple cider and cookies while enjoying six different stations of Christmas activities. Stations consisted of bagel bird seed feeders, yarn wreaths, Christmas cards, beaded bracelets, 3-D snowflakes and stained glass candle holders.

Little hands were proud of their work and even a few moms were brought to tears with the handmade cards. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Elmwood Library. All activities were free, ‘tis the season for joyous giving.

In other library news, the lively book club tried “Skipping Christmas” by reading the book and watching the movie “Christmas with the Kranks.” After a stimulating discussion, all agreed not to skip Christmas this year.

But they extend an invitation to join them in January for a discussion on Ted Dekker’s book “Blink of an Eye.” This book is an intoxicating tale set amidst the shifting sands of the Middle East and the back roads of America. Part mystery and part romance, this is the rare novel that engages issues as ancient as the earth itself…and as current as today’s headlines.

The group meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. With further questions, contact the library at 715-639-2615.

Just to calm the rumor, the Elmwood Public Library isn’t closing. Come check out this quaint library located at 111 N. Main St. The library is open Mondays, 10-5, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays from 11-5 and Wednesdays from 10-7, with story hour at 10 a.m. Ordering items from the library is easy, just log on www.more.lib.wi.us.

Jayne Geraets is the Village of Elmwood Library Director.
