MINNEAPOLIS - The new guy was impressive and the Minnesota Timberwolves were deadly from three-point range, beating Milwaukee in the first exhibition game Saturday night 117-96.
Most of the 15,000 fans in the Target Center came to see Spanish import Ricky Rubio and he didn’t disappoint them. Rubio played a little less than half the game, scoring six points, passing out seven assists, grabbing a half-dozen rebounds and stealing the ball twice. Minnesota connected on 15-of-24 long range shots.
The Bucks were led by Wisconsin rookie Jon Leuer’s 18 points and 16 from newcomer Mike Dunleavy. Andrew Bogut came back from last year’s surgery to score nine points and take down six rebounds.
