Baby Jesus is back where he belongs, just in time for Christmas.
A manger scene placed in Glover Park in downtown New Richmond, Wis. was robbed of its baby statue sometime during the weekend of Dec. 9-11.
According to the city’s Parks and Recreation Director Joe Kerlin, the statue had been secured to a wood platform but the robber or robbers broke the statue off in order to steal it. A new statue was put in its place by Tuesday morning of this week.
This Christmas season was the first for the new manger scene. The city’s old scene was beyond repair and local residents Mary Sullivan and her daughter Patricia Sullivan Watkins donated the new figures. The city’s recently deceased building inspector, John Frisco, donated the barn boards for the manger scene and Mike Wickham and Tim Leverty with the parks department built the new manger for the display.
