PASEDENA, Calf. - The University of Wisconsin football team arrived in Pasadena yesterday with the goal of atoning for their Rose Bowl loss to TCU a year ago.

The Badgers will play Oregon next Monday. Both teams are 11-2. Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema's arrival was peppered with questions about who else he might lose on his coaching staff. Offensive coordinator Paul Chryst took the head job at Pittsburgh last week. And Bielema says Chryst will take one of his fellow Badger assistants with him. Media reports say it's offensive line coach Bob Bostad. Bielema said last week he had planned to promote Bostad or tight ends coach Joe Rudolph to run the Badger offense -- and at this point, it looks like it will be Rudolph.

Three women's teams from Wisconsin will take part in a four-day showcase of NCAA Division III basketball. The D3hoops.com Classic begins this afternoon in Las Vegas with a pair of women's games. Concordia-Mequon will kick things off against Eureka, and then Carthage of Kenosha takes on DeSales. Tomorrow, the undefeated UW-River Falls women will play their first Vegas game against Thomas More of Kentucky. Nine women's teams and 11 men's teams are taking part in the D3hoops Classic. None of the men's squads are from Wisconsin. The event continues through Friday. No other Wisconsin small college teams are scheduled to play today.

Germantown has moved into a first-place tie with Madison Memorial in Division 1 of the AP boys' state high school basketball poll. Germantown is 8-0 after being second a week ago. Milwaukee Riverside is third, followed by De Pere. Onalaska still leads Division-Two. Beaver Dam moved up two places to second, and Rice Lake remains third. In Division 3, Little Chute is still in first, followed by Oostburg and East Troy. Cuba City remains atop Division 4, with Whitefish Bay Dominican second and Auburndale third. Randolph continues to lead Division 5, with Sheboygan Lutheran and Racine Lutheran in the two-and-three spots.

In the AP girls' poll, Milwaukee Vincent still leads Division 1. Glendale Nicolet is second, followed by Franklin and Milwaukee Pius XI. New London remains atop Division 2, with New Berlin Eisenhower second and Whitefish Bay third. In Division 3, Whitefish Bay Dominican is still in first place, with Lomira and Brillion right behind. Algoma is again first in Division 4, followed by Eau Claire Regis and Oshkosh Lourdes. Wausau Newman still leads Division 5, with Black Hawk second and Wisconsin Rapids Assumption third.

The Milwaukee Admirals crushed Rockford 7-3 yesterday at the Bradley Center. The Admirals had five power play goals -- the most for the team since March of 2008. And Milwaukee moved into a first-place tie with Charlotte in the American Hockey League's Midwest Division. Mark Van Guilder had two goals, as the Admirals won their season-high eighth straight home game. Earlier yesterday, Ryan Ellis was promoted to Milwaukee's NHL parent club in Nashville. And the Admirals recalled Jeff Foss from Cincinnati.
