Monday State Sports Briefs: Both UW and UO look to break Rose Bowl losing streaks
Wisconsin Sports-- One of the teams will break a short losing streak today at the Rose Bowl.
PASEDENA, Calf. - One of the teams will break a short losing streak today at the Rose Bowl.
Oregon and Wisconsin are the last two teams to lose a Rose Bowl game, but nobody looks on the two programs as losers. The Ducks and Badgers have won a combined 22 games this season and both are noted for keeping the scoreboards spinning as they score points rapidly.
It is a contrast of styles. The Badgers like to control the ball, mixing both the run and pass. Oregon scores quickly, with a unique, high-powered offense. The Ducks may run into one problem in the 98th renewal of the old bowl game of them all – when opponents have extra time to get ready for the hurry-up offense Oregon uses, the Ducks have lost four out of five games.
Kickoff is at 4 p.m. CST.

An encouraging 2-1 start is a good thing, but a five-game western road trip could eliminate all the early-season optimism. It starts with a game tonight in Denver. The Milwaukee Bucks have struggled on western road trips. A good performance now could mean big things for the shortened 66-game season. Milwaukee plays five games in seven nights. The Bucks are catching Denver at a good time. Tonight’s game is the third in three nights for the Nuggets. Same story when Milwaukee plays at Sacramento Thursday. The Kings will be playing for a third night in a row. There is potential for the good start to continue, but the new-look Bucks have to make it happen.
