Saturday State Sports Briefs: Bucks hope Bogut can return by San Antonio game
Wisconsin Sports-- The Milwaukee Bucks are thinking center Andrew Bogut will return in time to play the home game scheduled for next Tuesday against San Antonio.
LOS ANGELES - The Milwaukee Bucks are thinking center Andrew Bogut will return in time to play the home game scheduled for next Tuesday against San Antonio.
A spokesman for Bogut has confirmed his absence for the last two games involves a family issue. He left the team last Tuesday just a few hours before its game in Salt Lake City against the Utah Jazz. He missed that game and Thursday’s 103-100 loss at Sacramento. Bogut’s spokesman says the issue is not related to the player’s health. The Bucks are 0-3 on the current west coast trip. Drew Gooden has started at center in his place the last two games, averaging 21 points and 10 and a half rebounds.
The Bucks are in Los Angeles to face the Clippers this evening.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel is quoting a source at the University of Wisconsin as saying assistant football coach Joe Rudolph has an interview scheduled with the University of Pittsburgh. Rudolph was recently promoted to offensive line coach-run-game coordinator for the Badgers. He has been called a strong evaluator of talent who is good at impressing recruits and their parents. However, Rudolph reportedly has a desire to at least share an offensive coordinator position and Pittsburgh could offer that chance to him. Rudolph could follow UW offensive coordinator Paul Chryst to the Panthers. Chryst was recent named Pitt’s head coach.

A trade with the San Diego Padres seems to suggest the Chicago Cubs are out of the bidding for former Brewer first baseman Prince Fielder. The Cubs acquired Padres first-base prospect Anthony Rizzo and right-handed pitcher Zach Cates, giving up right-hander Andrew Cashner and outfielder Kyung-Min Na. It looks like Chicago will commit to Rizzo as their first baseman of the future. He hit .331 last season at Triple-A Tucson, with 26 home runs and 101 runs batted in. He struggled with the Padres, hitting .141 in 49 games.
