MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Mile race track is not giving up on getting an Indy-Car event for this June.
The circuit announced last fall it would not return to State Fair Park last year after a small crowd attended a race last summer. The promoter of that event is now gone, and Patrice Harris of State Fair Park says officials there have been talking with others about picking up the responsibilities. Indy-Car CEO Randy Bernard got a lot of positive responses from drivers when he asked them on Twitter if they’d like to see Milwaukee on this year’s schedule. Graham Rahal said the consensus is that quote, “Everyone wants Milwaukee.” He said it’s an “incredible” place to race.
The Milwaukee Mile has been hosting races since 1903. But there were no Indy-Car or NASCAR events there in 2010 after a previous track manager ran into financial problems. NASCAR has since moved its Wisconsin events to Road America at Elkhart Lake.
