U women's hockey team splits with UMD

The No. 1 ranked University of Minnesota women's hockey team split their weekend series with Minnesota-Duluth at AMSOIL Arena.

DULUTH - The No. 1 ranked University of Minnesota women's hockey team split their weekend series with Minnesota-Duluth at AMSOIL Arena.

The No. 8 ranked Bulldogs won on Friday 4-2. UMD scored three of their goals in the first period to take a 3-1 lead and added a second period goal on a power play. Jenny McParland had two goals and an assist for Duluth while teammate Hayley Irwin had a goal and two assists and Noora Jaakkola had two assists. Goalie Jennifer Harss made 31 saves. The Golden Gophers goals came from Kelly Terry and Sarah Davis.

The Gophers came back Saturday for 3-0 shutout win led by a pair of goals for Sarah Erickson and a goal and assist for Amanda Kessel. Winning goalie Noora Raty made 29 saves.
