UW women's hockey wins in OT again, men lose at UND
Wisconsin Sports-- The University of Wisconsin women's hockey team defeated in Bemidji State in overtime while the men's team gave up two late third period goals to lose to North Dakota 5-3.
Two times the Wisconsin men’s hockey team rallied back from deficits to tie. They didn’t manage the trick the third time, losing a 5-3 game at North Dakota Friday night.
The Fighting Sioux jumped out to a 2-0 lead, then goals by Michael Mersch and Keegan Meuer tied it. North Dakota went up 3-2, but Mersch scored again to knot the score at 3-3. That’s where it stayed until less than two minutes remained. Stephane Pattyn scored the winner, then the Sioux added an empty net goal with just one second left. The Badgers go for the split at 7 p.m. tonight. They will bring a 12-11-2 record into that contest, including 10-9-0 in the WCHA.

A game-winning goal by Madison Packer gives the Wisconsin women’s hockey team a second straight victory in overtime. Packer’s score made the final count 3-2 over Bemidji State at the Kohl Center Friday. Alex Rigsby had 39 saves as Wisconsin improved its record to 23-2-2, including 17-2-2-1 in the WCHA. The narrow win was the fourth overtime game in four weeks for UW. The Badgers never trailed. Brianna Decker and Carolyne Prevost put Wisconsin ahead 2-0, but Bemidji State came back to tie, setting the stage for Packer’s game-winner. Wisconsin goes for the sweep in a 7 p.m. contest tonight in Madison in the annual "Fill The Bowl" game at the Kohl Center.
