MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota football team's 2012 recruiting class includes 31 new players. Nineteen signed National Letters of Intent Wednesday, eight are already enrolled in classes at the U of M and four signed Acceptance of Admission forms.
Twenty-five of them will be true freshmen this fall while six come from junior colleges. Gopher head coach Jerry Kill says he feels good about the ten kids from the state who decide the University of Minnesota is where they truly want to be. Kill says they were able to improve the speed and athleticism of the football program.
Sixteen of the recruits play defense, 11 are expect to play on offense and four of the student-athletes could play on either side of the ball. The U signed more than 10 in-state players, the largest number of Minnesotans who chose to play at the U in well over a decade
