CLAM LAKE - Three Mexican nationals are starting to serve 10 year prison terms, after being convicted of running a remote marijuana growing operation in northwest Wisconsin.
Federal Judge Barbara Crabb of Madison sentenced 21 year-old Cesar Tinoco, 25 year old Jorge Lopez-Ontiveros, and 29 year-old Abraham Ramirez this week. All three pleaded guilty in November to taking part in a marijuana farm near Clam Lake in the Chequamegon Nicolet National Forest.
Dozens of law enforcement officers raided the operation last August, and they seized 9,500 pot plants. Three other men are expected to be sentenced in the next couple of weeks.
