Ellsworth basketball teams split Tuesday games
Both Ellsworth High School basketball teams were in action Tuesday with the boys squad winning at home 53-42 over St. Croix Central while the girls' squad lost a conference match-up at Hwy. 10 rival Durand 43-27.
Both Ellsworth High School basketball teams were in action Tuesday with the boys squad winning at home 53-42 over St. Croix Central while the girls' squad lost a conference match-up at Hwy. 10 rival Durand 43-27.
EHS's boys team won its 10th game this season as they overcame a bad first quarter, trailing 15-5, to outscore SCC 32-14 in quarters two and three. Ellsworth was also a solid 21-of-33 shooting from the foul line.
Jake Betthauser scored 18 points for the Purple and teammate Lemoine Steffen was again in double figures in scoring with 17 points.
The Ellsworth girls basketball team played competitively with Durand, down only 20-14 at halftime. However they weren't able to generate the offense they needed in the second half to overtake Durand.
Lydia Kuhl and Tacia Kuhl each had nine points to lead Ellsworth in scoring.
